Soft Washing

Soft Washing

Over time renders, painted surfaces and most other building or natural materials can discolour and look dirty. This is caused by either general grime from roads or algae which grows in the small voids and spreads. It is not advised to use pressure washers on renders especially K Rends or Weber products as it can damage them.

At Bear Cleaning Ltd we use a soft wash system which applies a fungicidal wash, which almost immediately removes the spoors or stains, leaving the render looking fresh and new. Any residue will disappear with weathering over a short space of time.

Frequently ask questions

What is exterior soft washing, and how does it differ from pressure washing?

Exterior soft washing is a cleaning method used to remove dirt, grime, mould, and other stains from exterior surfaces including renders and delicate surfaces.

Unlike pressure washing, which uses high-pressure water to blast away debris, soft washing utilises low pressure water combined with specialised softwash cleaning solutions to achieve thorough cleaning without causing damage to the surface.

This gentle approach is particularly suitable for fragile or porous materials, and ensures a deep clean whilst preserving the integrity and appearance of the surface.

Exterior soft washing is recommended for renders and delicate surfaces because it provides a gentle yet effective cleaning method that minimises the risk of damage.

Renders and delicate materials, such as soft stucco or intricate architectural features, can be easily damaged by high-pressure water typically used in pressure washing.

Soft washing ensures thorough cleaning without compromising the integrity of the surface, making it ideal for maintaining the cleanliness and appearance of renders and delicate surfaces without causing harm.

What types of stains and contaminants can exterior soft washing effectively remove from renders and surfaces?

Exterior soft washing is effective at removing a variety of stains and contaminants from renders and surfaces, including dirt, grime, algae, mould, mildew, and organic stains.

These unsightly substances can accumulate over time, detracting from the appearance of the exterior and potentially causing damage if left untreated.

Soft washing utilises specialised cleaning solutions and low-pressure water to safely, and effectively, eliminate these stains, restoring the surface to its original condition without causing harm.

How often should exterior soft washing be performed on renders and surfaces?

The frequency of exterior soft washing for renders and surfaces depends on various factors, including climate, exposure to environmental elements, and the presence of organic growth.

As a general guideline, it’s recommended to schedule soft washing on an as-needed basis, typically once every 1-3 years, to maintain the cleanliness and appearance of the exterior surfaces.

Regular inspections can help identify signs of staining or contamination, prompting timely soft washing to prevent buildup and preserve the integrity of the renders and surfaces.
